iWatch Wristwatch Concept

Designed by Italy’s ADR Studio, the iWatch would feature a gorgeous aluminum body reminiscent of Apple’s other “i” devices. The wristwatch would not only tell time on a sleek full-color LCD screen, it would have integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, run apps, and could connect with either the iPhone or iPad (presumably to interact with remote apps and data). Oh yeah, and it would have a built-in Pico projector.

iTut – iPod Shrine

The afterlife never sounded so good. Feeding France’s insatiable appetite for all things ancient Egyptian (Yeah, I’m talkin’ to you Napoleon!), French designer Stéphane Thivend cracked many whips to bring us the “Horus” pyramid coffee table. This Ancient Wonder is made from high performance concrete and features a powered integrated dual speaker system and iPod dock. And to further ensure a captive audience, Stéphane also included an integrated LED lighting effect with your choice of 24 Pharaoh approved colors. – Sent from my iPad while listening to Pink Floyd.

Eyjafjallajökull Volcano in DNA Watch

From the same chap who brought us the watch with actual moon dust and parts from Apollo 11, comes the timely (sorry) Icelandic Eyjafjallajökull watch. With—you guessed it—volcanic ash. Pretty fast, considering it only erupted last week.

Glass USB Drive

This transparent USB memory stick covers all the convenient functions of the memory sticks I’ve introduced so far. The light inside the glass represents the data saved in it: No lights means no data, lights filling the glass means there’s no more space. The kind of data is recognized with colors. For example pink is for images, blue is for documents and green for movies, etc. It would be more fun if the lights can move in the glass when you shake it.

Plasma TVs Make Great Windows

It’s not like you needed those windows for light anyway, so why not give yourself a multi-million dollar view of the Golden Gate Bridge instead? The Winscape iPhone app controls the view you see out your windows—or, plasmas.

Moon Phase Watch Extravaganza!

Usually, when there’s an extravaganza, there’s a whole bucket full of them. But not this time! But why?! I’ll tell you why. It’s because we only need one, yes, ONE of them. This is the one right here. It’s called the “Moon Watch” and it’s made by those fabulous folks over at The Emotion Lab. Not only does this one tell you the phases of the moon as they happen, this one tells you the 24 hours in the day as well.

AND not only does it tell the time and the phases of the moon, whatever you like dependent on the button you press, this watch also has a display dependent on how dark it is. That’s radical!

Sikker Is For Safety

Oh but it’s much much more. The Sikker (Danish for safety) is a jack of all trades baby monitor, radio, alarm clock, and watch. One bracelet stays on baby; the other on parent. The units work in tandem with the base station to transmit basic biometric data about baby’s condition like temperature. The units also transmit sounds and even remotely play music for baby.

Windows Phone 7 Tablet Concept

LG, Samsung and ASUS have all developed hardware for Windows Phone 7, but none tickle my fancy quite as much as this WP7 tablet concept, which has a kickstand that folds into a keypad, and joystick controls on the back. It’s the work of designer Umang Dokey, who dreamt up the 8-inch tablet with two webcams and the aforementioned hardware niceties. The two joysticks would be ideal for gaming, acting like shoulder buttons—they could even be handy when scrolling through documents or the web. A kickstand that folds in front to become a keypad is a terrific idea—especially when it’s implemented into the actual device, unlike the iPad’s keyboard kickstand.

Zero Watch

Watch concepts without traditional numerics and even analog hands? Minimalism to its extreme – or at least that’s what designer Robert Dabi is pitching. His ZERO watch has two discs  (one each for hours and minutes) that spin to tell time. My main problem with many numeric-less concepts is a delay in reading them. The ZERO looks like it may avoid that because I have no problems reading it. No word if it’ll hit the market but the flexible metal/rubber band will come in an array of colors if it does. Hit the jump for a video.

Furry + Glowy Pillow

Maybe the whole cosmos isn’t in this pillow, but the LEDs hidden in a zippered compartment and causing these glowing, swirling patterns sure do give the illusion that it is. At about $37, the Moonlight cushion is pricier than let’s say a pillow with the Android mascot, but I think that it’s worth it—even if only as a pretty nightlight.

Cook In With The CookIn Table

This is induction cooking at its finest. Designed to be functional and as a wonderful table top to serve from, the CookIn Table encourages family time by engaging everyone to join in ala hot pot style. The cooktop only heats up when a metallic surface touches it. Beneath the glass top are retractable shelves for additional service stations and beneath that is storage for utensils. Beautiful and accompanied by an extremely detailed exploded view. We like that.

A Watch With No Face

Aurora is a watch that doesn’t have an apparent dial. There’s more of a transparent face with no signs of the hour or minutes hand. It’s not as if the designer forgot to put them there, he just got innovative and decided to perk up this analog piece by including funky laser light beams for the hands. The red beam indicates the minutes and the blue depicts the hour. They appear only when you tap the bevel edge around the watch ring; until then it’s just a hip jewelry around your wrist.
